Portugal raises D8 digital nomad visa income threshold to EUR 3,680/month

Portugal has increased the minimum income requirement for its D8 digital nomad visa to EUR 3,680 per month (four times the national minimum wage), up from the previous threshold of approximately EUR 3,040. The increase follows Portugal’s January 2026 minimum wage rise to EUR 920/month.

Applicants already in the pipeline should check whether they meet the new threshold. The D8 remains one of Europe’s most popular digital nomad visas, but the rising income floor — which adjusts automatically with minimum wage increases — is gradually pricing out lower-earning freelancers and remote workers.
