eTEFL Online Teacher Training
The qualification, the practice hours, and somebody to ask
Teaching English online is one of the very few remote careers you can enter without prior remote experience. Nobody asks whether you have worked from home before — the qualification is the entry ticket. eTEFL Online Teacher Training is the provider we checked, and the one our readers get a discount with.

Why we partner with eTEFL Online Teacher Training
Most routes into remote work have a catch-22 at the door: employers want people who have already worked remotely, and you cannot work remotely until somebody lets you. Teaching English online is one of the few that does not.
The difficulty is that there is no single official TEFL accreditor, which is exactly why the sector attracts bad actors. Anyone can call a PDF a certification. So before we put a provider in front of our readers we checked this one — accreditation, trading history, and what graduates actually say.
We also wrote the honest version of how to vet any provider, not just this one. That is in our guide, and it applies whether you buy from this partner or somebody else entirely.

What the programme includes
- 120-hour TEFL certification
- A 30-hour practicum with real students — the part most cheap courses leave out, and the part that makes a CV credible
- Four live career mentorship sessions
- All three specialist courses, included rather than sold separately
The Advanced Online Teacher Training programme is €390.
Remote Work Europe readers get €20 off with the code RWE20.
The code is entered at checkout — it is not built into the link, so you do need to type it in.
Who it is for
- Anyone wanting a first remote role without prior remote experience to show
- People already in Europe who want work that travels with them
- Career changers who need a clear, purchasable entry point rather than a vague plan
- Parents, carers and downshifters who need hours that flex
Who it is not for
If what you want is an employed remote role in the field you already work in, this is probably the wrong door. Our work on remote gateway roles is a better starting point — those are the jobs where the experience you already have is the qualification.
And teaching online is work, not a shortcut. Rates vary enormously by market and by whether you go through a platform or find your own students.
The part the certificate will not tell you
If you teach online from an EU country and are paid by platforms or private students, you are almost certainly self-employed — and that has consequences no TEFL course covers.
In Spain that means registering as autónomo before you invoice anybody, with a monthly social security contribution attached. Our guides to autónomo rates for 2026 and freelancing through international platforms from Spain cover what that actually costs.

Remote Work Europe has a commercial relationship with eTEFL Online Teacher Training. Our guide to teaching English online was a paid feature, and we earn a commission on each enrolment that uses the code RWE20. The discount is real and the price to you is lower, not higher. We checked their accreditation independently before agreeing to any of it, and our guide sets out how to vet any provider — including this one. Read our full partner policy.
