Relocation, settling in, and finding somewhere to live

Moving to Spain is rarely the hard part. Finding a home once you arrive — as someone without a Spanish payslip, a Spanish guarantor or a rental history here — is where most people get stuck. Carolina Sancho and her team have been solving exactly that since 2012.

Why we partner with CSS Consulting

Remote Work Europe writes a great deal about visas, tax and the paperwork of moving to Spain. What we have never covered properly is the part readers ask about most: where will I actually live, and how do I get a landlord to say yes?

That question is harder for our readers than for almost anyone else. Spanish landlords screen tenants on a nómina — three months of payslips from a Spanish employer, on a permanent contract, showing income at three times the rent. Remote employees paid from abroad do not have one. Nor do freelancers, digital nomad visa holders, or people living on a pension or savings.

Carolina does this work every week. She knows which landlords and agencies will look at a foreign income file, what that file needs to contain, and what a reasonable alternative to a Spanish guarantor looks like.

What CSS Consulting does

Relocation and global mobility. End-to-end settling in, for individuals, families and companies: finding a home, schools, the move itself, bringing a vehicle or a pet, insurance, and coordinating the legal and tax steps through specialist collaborators.

Home-finding. A personal-shopper approach to the search, whether you are renting or buying somewhere to live — viewing, negotiating, and dealing with the paperwork on your behalf. Renovation and supplier coordination if the place needs work, and ongoing rental and maintenance management afterwards.

Who it is for

  • Remote employees and freelancers moving to Spain without a Spanish employment contract
  • Digital nomad visa and non-lucrative visa holders who need a tenancy that supports their application
  • Families who need schooling sorted alongside the housing
  • Anyone who has tried the Spanish rental market from abroad and hit the guarantor problem

Who it is not for

This is a boutique, high-touch service with a small team, and it is priced accordingly. If you are comfortable navigating Idealista in Spanish, have a Spanish guarantor lined up and enjoy the paperwork, you may not need it.

One note on what this page covers. Remote Work Europe writes about relocation and finding somewhere to live, so that is what you will find here. For anything to do with property as an investment, speak to Carolina directly – it is outside what we cover, not outside what CSS Consulting does.
