What n8n does
n8n is an open workflow orchestration platform, founded in Germany in 2019, which connects AI models to the systems a business already runs on. In its own words it aims to become “the default orchestration layer between AI models and business systems”, giving technical teams “the freedom of code with the speed” of a visual builder.
It is one of the few European companies at the centre of the AI tooling boom rather than adjacent to it, which makes it an unusual employer for anyone wanting to work in AI without moving to San Francisco.
Remote Work Europe tracks n8n through the Connected members’ jobs board.
Remote culture: what it’s actually like
n8n describes itself as remote-first with global talent, with people working “from almost anywhere in Europe, the UK and sometimes the US”, and holds regular offsites to compensate.
The composition backs the claim: 30-plus nationalities across 18 countries. That is a genuinely distributed company rather than a German company with remote staff attached.
Its stated culture is “high-velocity, high-trust, low-ego, and all-in”, and that “titles matter less than ideas”. Read the last phrase carefully before applying. Companies that say titles matter less than ideas are usually fast, flat and demanding, and the trade-off is real in both directions.
The stated ambition is telling: “$1bn ARR with fewer than 500 people”. A deliberately small team at that scale means individual scope is large and headcount is not the answer to a problem.
Hiring in Europe: the details
Countries. Here is the honest caveat, and it matters. n8n states it hires across Europe, the UK and sometimes the US – but of the fifteen n8n roles on our board at the end of September 2026, all fifteen were stated as Germany.
That gap between the stated policy and the current adverts is the single most useful thing on this page. The policy is real; this month’s openings happen to be German-stated. Ask rather than assume.
Employment model. Not stated in the listings.
Benefits. Published: a vacation allowance adjusted by location, a learning budget covering courses, conferences and build weeks, flexible arrangements for caregiving responsibilities, and compensation benchmarked regularly.
Language. English, with DACH-facing sales roles requiring German.
Who they’re looking for
More commercial than you might expect of a developer-tools company. Of fifteen roles, twelve were non-technical: partner marketing leads, a global director of revenue enablement, strategic customer experience and success, an enterprise sales leader for DACH, sales data analysis, and head of people operations.
The technical hiring is concentrated: agentic engineering platform engineers, working on the orchestration layer itself.

What the hiring pattern tells you
Twelve non-technical roles out of fifteen, at a company whose product is a developer tool, is the pattern worth noticing.
It is a reliable signal across our data: companies scaling a technical product hire disproportionately in go-to-market, enablement and operations. A jobseeker who rules out AI and developer-tooling companies because they cannot code is ruling out a category where most of the openings would not have required it.
The location gap is the second signal, and it applies well beyond n8n. An employer’s published remote policy and its current vacancy list are different documents, written by different people, for different purposes. We tag roles on the members’ board by the countries the advert actually states, not by what the careers page says, precisely because those two things diverge this often.
Our guide to what “remote” actually means on a job advert covers the wider version of this problem.
How to apply
- Careers page: n8n.io/careers – roles are posted through Ashby and go directly to the company

Specific tips: if you are outside Germany and the role says Germany, ask whether it is a hard requirement before ruling yourself out – the stated policy is broader than the current listings. Show you have used the product; at a company this size with an open-source core, having actually built something with it is checkable and rare. And take “titles matter less than ideas” at face value when deciding whether the environment suits you.
