Croatia extends digital nomad visa to 18 months with higher income threshold

Croatia has extended the maximum duration of its digital nomad visa from 12 to 18 months, effective from March 2025. The income threshold has been raised to EUR 3,295 per month, and applicants now need to provide six months of bank statements (previously three months). The tax-exempt status of the visa has been maintained, keeping Croatia competitive in the European DNV market.

The changes reflect Croatia’s growing confidence in its digital nomad programme, which has attracted a steady stream of remote workers since its 2021 launch. The longer visa duration makes Croatia one of the most generous options in Europe, reducing the administrative burden of annual renewals for those who choose to make it a longer-term base.

For remote workers considering Croatia, the higher income threshold and stricter documentation requirements signal that the programme is maturing. The country’s Schengen membership (effective January 2023) adds practical value, allowing visa holders to travel freely across the Schengen area. Cities like Split, Dubrovnik, and Zadar also offer digital nomad welcome packages with housing and coworking subsidies.
