EU right to disconnect directive moves to second-stage consultation

The European Commission has begun second-stage talks with trade unions and employers on a potential EU directive covering telework and the right to disconnect. Six member states (France, Belgium, Italy, Spain, Slovakia, Greece) already have national legislation in place.

A pan-EU directive would establish minimum standards for all remote workers across the bloc, potentially giving those in countries without existing protections a legal basis to set boundaries on out-of-hours contact.
